About us - from gymnast bodysuits to dog bodysuits

My name is Sylvia Seckler, and together with my faithful companion Chewie, I would like to share with you the fascinating story of how our exclusive label came about. Chewie is my adorably male Golden Retriever, who is not only the inspiration but also the reason for my label cocucanem.
As a state-certified fashion designer with extensive training in patternmaking and tailoring, I have always pursued my passion for high-quality textiles and innovative designs. Until December 2019, I worked as a designer, product manager, and product developer for various companies, while developing plans for my own independent brand. In January 2020, I took the plunge and founded a sportswear label for gymnastics competitions—a project that merged my creative energy with my personal passion.
At the same time, Chewie, then just a sweet little puppy, moved in with me. I envisioned a perfect work-life balance, one in which my dog and I would be in harmony. But life, as we all know, has its own agenda. While the world was gripped by the coronavirus pandemic, my business plan was put to the test. And then came the diagnosis that changed everything: Chewie suffered from severe bilateral hip dysplasia. The news hit me hard. I opted for two major surgeries as a young dog rather than a lifetime of pain from misalignment and resulting arthritis. I did everything I could to accompany my Chewie on his path to recovery. Right up to the last tail wag, not the first problem!
During this challenging time, I realized how important it is to develop products that are not only functional but also tailored to the dog's needs. The conventional dog bodysuits I initially tried were far from ideal—difficult to put on, inconvenient for urination, and not optimal for wound healing, as they didn't even fully cover the wounds in the hip area. As a creative problem solver, I began developing my own solutions: custom-made, easy-to-put-on pants that reliably covered the scars and allowed Chewie to heal without stress.
From this experience, the idea for cocucanem was born: an exclusive collection of products designed specifically for the needs of injured dogs. Our goal is to create high-quality, thoughtful companions that support the healing process while being stylish and comfortable.
Cocucanem is all about heart (lat. cor) and care (lat. cura) for dogs (lat. canem) – for the love we put into every single product and for the dedication with which we accompany our furry friends on their path to recovery.
